The Mosquito Requiem

The Mosquito Requiem
There is an insect older than us. It was here before the first field was enclosed, before the first border was drawn, before fear had a body to live in. The film begins from this quiet displacement, from the recognition that the human is not the measure of what happens on this planet, only one of its temporary forms.
The Mosquito Requiem thinks through the mosquito rather than about it. The bite, usually imagined as theft, is closer to a deposit, an exchange the body does not even feel. Around this small and unfelt event the film opens outward, toward the particles that pass through us from stars that no longer exist, toward matter that arrives from elsewhere and goes on shaping what is alive, without asking and without being noticed.
A requiem is a mass for the dead. Here it becomes a way of admitting that ending is not the opposite of life but its condition. The film does not mourn the world so much as try to look at it without the consolation of standing at its center.

The Mosquito Requiem
Jestvuje hmyz starší než my.
The Mosquito Requiem nemyslí o komárovi, ale skrze neho.
